Description
This book contains 3 major sections. The first is a poetic rendering of the sense of each of the cantos in Sri Aurobindo's epic poem Savitri. The second is a résumé of the story of Savitri as told in Sri Aurobindo's epic. The third explores the nature of the legend and the symbol as described by Sri Aurobindo. The use of poetic renderings for the essence of each canto was done specifically to avoid intellectualizing the understanding of what is after all a great poetic work. The résumé is an excellent short introduction to the canto by canto sense of the epic. And the discussion of the legend and the symbol picks up on the explicit statement in the subtitle provided to his epic work by Sri Aurobindo himself.
